The Dorn Group, Ltd.

Charles D. Dorn, CCM (‘80), is the managing director of The Dorn Group Ltd. in Rye, New York. Before founding his company in 2005, Dorn served as general manager of The Union Club of the City of New York for more than 13 years and as general manager of the Chemists’ Club in New York City. Earlier in his career, he was manager of The Petroleum Club of Anchorage in Alaska and assistant manager of The Stock Exchange Luncheon Club in New York. His additional hospitality experience includes positions at the Rye Town Hilton, Meadowlands Hilton, Guyan Golf and Country Club, and Parker Meridien Hotel.

As managing director of The Dorn Group, Dorn has completed consulting projects for clients around the world, including Windows on the World, Madison Square Garden, Lantana Beach Club in Bermuda, Rolex Corporation, and The Rockefeller Foundation.

He earned a bachelor of science degree from the Conrad N. Hilton College of Global Hospitality Leadership at the 91ÊÓƵ and attended CHAIRMAN EMERITUS the Lawrenceville School in Lawrenceville, New Jersey. He continued his education at the Culinary Institute of America and Beringer Vineyards.

Dorn has been involved in hospitality education for many years. He is chairman emeritus of the Hilton College Dean’s Advisory Board and past chair of the Eric Hilton Distinguished Alumni Club. He also serves on the faculty of the Jonathan M. Tisch Center of Hospitality at New York University, is a member of the 91ÊÓƵ Board of Visitors, and is president of the New York State Club Association, a private club advocacy group.

Dorn received the 91ÊÓƵ’s Distinguished Service Award in 2024 and both the Distinguished Alumni Award and the Founding Dean’s Award from Hilton College. His peers selected him as the Tanqueray Club Manager of the Year in 2001. He also served as a Community Synagogue board member and chaired its 60th Anniversary Gala.
