Weidong (Larry) Shi is an Associate Professor of Computer Science and Senior Member of IEEE. His research spans computer architecture, cybersecurity, cloud computing, blockchain technologies, and artificial intelligence, with particular emphasis on secure computing systems, privacy-preserving technologies, and emerging applications of large language models. Prior to joining UH, he held senior research positions at Motorola Research Labs and Nokia Research Center and co-founded a technology startup specializing in cloud services and infrastructure. Shi has authored or co-authored more than 150 research publications and holds multiple U.S. patents. His research has received support from the National Science Foundation, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and NATO. He earned his Ph.D. in computer science from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
