Benefits at a Glance
The 91视频 offers a variety of benefits to benefit-eligible employees as part of its total compensation package. Employees may select benefits based on their individual needs and those of their eligible dependents. Dependent eligibility may be subject to periodic audits by the Employees Retirement System of Texas (ERS) or its designee.
Benefits include automatic state benefits, such as sick leave, paid holidays, and
retirement, as well as optional insurance coverage and supplemental retirement programs.
Medical Insurance
Eligible employees may enroll in HealthSelect of Texas, the medical insurance plan administered by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas. Consumer Directed HealthSelect, a high-deductible health plan, is also available as an option under the HealthSelect program.
- The state contributes toward medical premiums based on employee eligibility and employment status.
- Medical coverage begins on the first day of the month following the employee鈥檚 60th day of employment. This waiting period does not apply to employees transferring directly from another state agency.
- Part-time benefits-eligible employees must elect medical coverage within their first 60 days of employment to receive coverage after the waiting period.
- Premiums and plan provisions are subject to change.
Vision Insurance
The State of Texas Vision plan provides coverage for eligible vision care services, including eye exams, contact lens fittings, eyeglass frames, lenses, and contact lenses.
HealthSelect includes an annual eye exam but does not provide comprehensive vision coverage. Employees who want additional vision benefits may consider enrolling in the State of Texas Vision plan.
Dental Insurance
Eligible employees may choose between the State of Texas Dental Choice Plan and the Humana Dental DHMO Plan.
- Employees may enroll in only one dental plan.
- Employees and their enrolled dependents must participate in the same dental plan.
Optional Term Life Insurance
Eligible employees may purchase additional term life insurance based on their salary and coverage needs. Available coverage is subject to plan limits, and premiums are based on the employee's age and selected coverage amount.
Dependent Term Life Insurance
Employees may elect term life insurance for eligible dependents. Coverage includes a term life benefit with accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) protection, subject to plan provisions.
Voluntary Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) Insurance
Eligible employees under age 70 may elect AD&D coverage for themselves or themselves and eligible family members. Coverage amounts and eligibility are subject to plan requirements.
Short-Term and Long-Term Disability Insurance
The Texas Income Protection Plan (TIPP) offers optional short-term and long-term disability coverage to eligible employees. These benefits may provide a portion of an employee's insured monthly salary if an illness or injury prevents them from working.
- Coverage is not available to family members or retirees.
- A physician must certify that the employee meets the plan's total disability requirements.
- Short-term disability benefits may be payable for up to five months.
- Long-term disability benefit duration depends on the employee's age when the disability begins and applicable plan provisions.
TexFlex Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs)
TexFlex Flexible Spending Accounts allow eligible employees to set aside pre-tax money to pay for qualifying health care, dental, vision, and dependent care expenses. By using pre-tax dollars, participants may lower their taxable income and save money on eligible expenses.
- Health Care FSA: Helps pay for eligible out-of-pocket medical expenses, including copays, prescriptions, glasses, contact lenses, and certain over-the-counter products.
- Limited-Purpose FSA: Helps cover eligible dental and vision expenses for employees enrolled in Consumer Directed HealthSelect.
- Dependent Care FSA: Helps pay for eligible child and dependent care expenses, such as daycare, adult
day care, and day camps.
Contribution limits, eligible expenses, and claim deadlines apply. Employees should review the plan rules before enrolling.
