The Stay Cougar SAFE Resource Fair took place in September at the 91ÊÓƵ
(UH). The event’s purpose is to educate UH students, faculty, and staff about 14-plus
UH departments and partnering agencies that focus on campus safety and student wellbeing.
In turn, participating students received a spacious swag bag and a “passport requiring
stamps to be eligible for the Shasta Bucks raffle. Participants enjoyed the light
bites and mocktails as well.
Erica Vazquez and Marilyn Leider represented Facilities/Construction Management (F/CM) at the event, encouraging students to contact the FIXIT hotline and report malfunctioning lights, elevators, and more.
“Promoting the FIXIT hotline is about empowering students to take the first step in
resolving their maintenance issues. We really enjoyed this opportunity to shine a
light on F/CM’s customer service team as well, said Leider.
Other participating UH departments and community agencies included the UH Police Department (UHPD), Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS), Houston Fire Department recruiters, the Forensic Center of Excellence, and many more.
The event was a grand success, with 327 attendees compared to 185 in 2025. F/CM looks forward to supporting the Cougar community’s safety again at next year’s fair.
